Tribute to Quentin Roosevelt 1897-1918 (3 studies and 1 canvas of 2 x 1.5 meter)

There are many rapeseed fields (yellow) because it's springtime.
During my holiday i went to Zürich the 4th august 2017.
There is the same plane of Quentin in Switzerland, at the Air Force center of Dübendorf.
Between November 1917 and july 1918, 450 planes of this type were used by the US Army to France during the First World War.
Horizontal speed max: 206 km/h
Span: 8.16 meters, length: 6.40 meters and weight 435 kg.
I taken many pictures during my visit, but chose this first picture to put Quentin on stage.
You can see the Switzerland's badge on wing.
During my trip to Zürich, I had the idea to make a tryptic symbol of peace for the 3 countries concerned by the history of Quentin, United States, France and Germany.
As soon as come back from Switzerland i went to Coulonges-Cohan the 6th august 2017 to see the right colors of the lands and the fields during summertime. This picture is a view of the area of Chamery from the road of Cierges to Chamery.

It was here that my father explained to his children, about fifty years earlier, the story of Quentin died on July 14th 1918, the National Day of France, it's a symbol to the French People.

View of landscape around Coulonges-Cohan from the road of Vieux-Vézilly to Coulonges-Cohan near the edge of the forest. To the deep of valley there is L'Orillon river and the road from Villers-Agron to Fère-en-Tardenois.

Harvested and ploughed wheat fields and young alfalfa above Coulonges-Cohan and Chamery.
The shooting of the landscapes of Coulonges-Cohan and Chamery are slightly different on the three Studies.
I start with the background scenery for the three scenes with the same colors.
The top of the canvas is blurred towards the horizon and the bottom is accurate with the topography of the place.
With light grey and blue colors, the neutral colors for the peace symbol. These colors make me think of the heroes of Stan Lee set in in drawing by Moebius: the Surfer Silver.
I finished the third painting study on September 6th

I started this work at the end of February 2018. I built the wooden frame and I drew the canvas, then I painted the background and spared the airplane and the Doves
I finished the painting by a coat of varnish on March 26th, 2018. The work lasted one month.

The three studies and the large canvas were exhibited at the Château-Thierry MAFA from March 31st to April 28th, 2018.
At the beginning of August 2018, Freddy Dussart calls me on my phone, he organizes Quentin's centenary since two years ago at Coulonges-Cohan.
